Stoolball coaching DVD
The National Stoolball Association's coaching DVD explains how to bowl spin, how to bat effectively, how to improve your fielding, and suggests practices for your class or team. It's an excellent way to improve your stoolball.
Skills and drills in striking and fielding games through the context of stoolball is presented by Melissa Mantle, our Coaching Development Officer.

Demonstrating the hand position for bowling a straight delivery
Melissa first explains how to bowl straight deliveries time after time. She then explains the changes to the grip, hand position, and release which allow you to bowl top spin, back spin and side spin. Each technique and its effect is explained in detail, illustrated by footage from one of Melissa's training courses and from real matches.

Melissa then moves on to batting techniques, demonstrating the on drive, the pull, the straight drive, the square cut, the fine cut and the off drive. She explains how and, equally importantly, when to play each shot.

Demonstrating the straight drive shot
Moving onto fielding, catching techniques are shown for taking both high and low catches using both the traditional and the reverse cup (Australian) method. Melissa also demonstrates the long and short barrier techniques for stopping the ball in the field.
