Junior stoolball tournament - can you come?

Crawley Down stoolball club is arranging a junior stoolball tournament, which will be played at Turners Hill in West Sussex. They would like to hear from anyone interested in entering a team. Junior tournaments don't happen often so this is an excellent opportunity for any junior teams out there who would like to play.

Topic discussed include BingoLotto, stoolball in Thailand and India, insurance, marketing and publicity, equipment and how to take advantage of the National Curriculum's inclusion of stoolball.

Minutes of Management Meeting on Monday 31 March 2008

The Management Committee of the National Stoolball Association met at 53 Kings Road, Horsham at 7.45pm on Monday 31 March 2008. Topics discussed included suggestions for future stoolball conventions, publicity, Sport England recognition, insurance, equipment availability and quality, and an appeal for volunteers to act as a Press Officer for stoolball.

BingoLotto

The National Stoolball Association, along with over 150 other national governing bodies, has signed up to be part of BingoLotto: a money-raising scheme supported by the CCPR to help raise funds for grass-roots sport.

Stoolball recognised: Have your say

The decision by Sport England to recognise stoolball as a sport has led to a lot of welcome publicity for the sport in regional press, on BBC radio and television and on the BBC sport website. The Argus, in particular, wants to hear from players what they think the decision means for the sport. We'd like to see as many comments as possible to promote the game.

Stoolball recognised by Sport England

Sport England, the government agency responsible for advising, investing in and promoting community sport, has recognised stoolball as a sport. This decision follows six years of work by everyone at the National Stoolball Association, and in particular by the chairman and secretary, John and Kay Price. Recognition supports stoolball's recent inclusion in the National Curriculum for schools and means stoolball clubs, villages and sporting groups can apply for more funding.

Club Charter Accreditation Scheme

Club Charter is the National Stoolball Association's club accreditation scheme, giving every club the chance to show that they are well organised both on and off the field, and that they provide a safe and welcoming environment where everyone, irrespective of age, gender or ethnic origin, can reach their full potential.

Stoolball in Thailand: Photos

Stoolball has been introduced to a school in Thailand just north of Chiang Mai, not far from the Laos, Myanmar (Burma) and Vietnam borders. The children's first efforts at the game using bats and balls donated by the NSA and locally-made wickets are in our Stoolball in Thailand photo album.

Chanctonbury league averages

Tables of averages for all of the teams in the Chantonbury Ladies' League last year are now available on the Chanctonbury Ladies' League, Summer 2007 page. East Preston scored the most runs at the highest average per over, Burpham took wickets most often and bagged the most catches, while Roffey sent the most batters back to the pavilion as victims of a run-out.

Sussex Stoolball Umpires Association AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Sussex Stoolball Umpires Association will be held at Wivelsfield Village Hall (The Renshaw Room), Eastern Road, Wivelsfield, Near Haywards Heath on Wednesday 26 March at 7.30pm for a prompt 7.45pm start. We welcome all umpires, players, and anyone interested in taking up stoolball umpiring. It doesn't take to long to learn and we do really need you.

Stoolball Convention on Sunday 9 March 2008

The National Stoolball Association is holding its 3rd Stoolball Convention at Wivelsfield Village Hall (about 3 miles south of Haywards Heath just off the B2112) on Sunday 9 March 2008. Everyone involved in stoolball is encouraged to attend. The Convention is also an opportunity to buy bats, balls and other equipment for the new season. Arrive at 10.30am for an 11am start. The Convention will finish around 4pm.
